After 2 years, the case finally closed on Ben Mok's case. 4 weeks jail and 5 years driving ban for Doctor Teo. You can read more here.

It is too light a sentence for a life taken away? I find myself reflecting on this time and time again. Well, I know one thing for sure. A cyclists died due to a reckless act and many other lives are affected.  Take care of youself on the road. For yourself and for your family.
If you are a cyclist in Singapore, you might want to read up on this case and ask yourself. How much is a life worth?  And can more be done to make cycling safer for all?

wise words from Ben Mok

Found myself thinking of Ben Mok who was tragically run down on 21st March 2010. More on the case here and he was the reason why I attended the ROS 2010.  I didn't get to meet Ben personally but I visited his blog many times to read about riding routes, his epic journeys, complaints, rabblings on life and stuff....
From Ben Mok of pedaldamit.blogspot.com    -- Photo credits Ben Mok
One of the phase he wrote... stuck to me like a stubborn chewing gum on a shoe... " Cycling is like a church — many attend, but few understand "  Chimmm leh..... but really thought provoking...   Why do we ride and keep riding? Is it the bike? The friends? The scenery? The food? The solitude or the aching muscle pain after a long ride? What moves ur mojo?
Lastly, pls do take a moment to remember Ben mok, avid cyclist, blogger and writer.

Chris and Paul's Brompton
shhhsss

This ROS 2011 ride takes on a special meaning for me as our dear friend Paul left us on 29th April.  I was glad that Benoit of ROS took the time to talk about Paul and also the rationale of ROS.  ROS is always a sad event for me. Last year, I rode with Ben mok in my mind and this year it was Paul.... Chris Wee at Sandra's request, also did a very touching gesture. He rode Paul Brompton and I felt like he was there with us.....  Hope with more awareness created from this ride, we can help to promote safe cycling and that we all can share the roads.
On a happier note, this year I had 56 lovecycling friends accompanying for the ride. Thanks people for taking the time to attend and show support! Ride safe and ride on!
More photos of the ride here.
