shoes show a diversity of cycling styles... it is all ok! Come and ride with us!
Lovecyclingsg @ birdcage lane, Seletar airbase
28th Aug, Sunday. We met as usual for the Lovecyclingsg ride. This was Adriane first ride as a Lead rider. Over the last week, he helped to plan the route and update the ride attendees.  There was about 24 riders and after his route briefing at Khatib MRT, we rolled slowly in the direction of Seletar Airbase, assisted by the regulars like Clarence, Steven Tang, Steven Lim and Boo.
We also showed the folks the new road to Punggol which connects Yishun and makes for a nice and relaxed ride.  What I really like about our group is that we have a mix of every thing. From Roadies, foldies, mountain bikes... branded or non brand, all having a good time and just cycling as a team. Let's keep it this way!
As we rode close to Seletar airbase, most of us were very hungry and we made a detour to have a Roti prata breakfast at Jalan Kayu. The pratas at Thasevi were good but abit too expensive in my opinion.  I remember a plain prata used to cost 50cts and now it cost $1.00... talking about some inflation going on.  With our stomaches setttled, we cycled in Seletar airbase, took a photo at Brompton street. Derek was so happy and Steven Tang not soo..  Nice and short romp around seletar.. do visit it before the place get changed even more.  The rest of the ride photos here... below Video is from Boon yeo(thanks buddy!)
Lastly, well done, Adriane for leading the ride and many thanks to the regulars to make it a safe and fun ride for all!
Derek wants to bring home...
Featuring the Brompton B boys!

More on Tern straight from 16incheswestofpeoria.wordpress.com

 Excerpt on the article
"How do you appeal to people interested in bicycles but unaware of folders?
To grow the demand for folding bicycles, we have to make good bicycles. In other words, if a folding bike looks a bit weird, doesn’t ride well, and flexes in all the wrong places, we will have a hard time getting customers no matter how well it folds. So we need to work on the design of our bikes, to make them aesthetically pleasing, and sexy even; we need to make sure that our bikes ride really well when compared to a non-folding bike. Our bikes need to be fast, efficient, and stiff. When we can do all of these things, and keep costs reasonable, we think that there’s a big part of the cycling market that will appreciate the convenience of a highly portable bicycle. We also think that there’s a lot more innovation to be had in making bicycles more suited to urban transport. Innovations in lighting, power, luggage carrying—there’s lots to be done here, and we’ve got some pretty cool new technology in these areas as well. We’re not just designing a folding frame and slapping on standard bike components. We’re also innovating on the component side."

More here... yes! I like the vibes..can't wait to see the new bikes and innovation. Go go Tern! This are exciting times!

Brompton M touchpoints improvements

This is for a friend(Adriane lee) who has a Brompton M....but I thought I share it with you too. Going for a long long ride means that ur palms, bum will be tired. I consulted Russ of Pathlesspedaled and followed his setup. I changed out the following....
Ergon GC2 on my brommie

white markings to help u gauge the angle that best fits u
1) Handle bar grip - Change to Ergon GC2 grips. The design of the grips is ergo styled which has a wider plattform to rest the palms. Also comes with bar ends to have alternative gripping position. This is good for hill climbs. To fit Brompton M, u got to loosen the shifters and brake levers and move inward the bar. Once u do that, u can fold with no problem. To be even more comfortable, I wear gloves all the time when I ride...cuz u never know when u fall.

Shimano R770 levers
Done!
2)Shimano R770  Flat bar brake levers - It has a return spring buildin with a sculpted shaped levers, which makes braking easier. Cheap and easy mod. Get it at Rodalink.
3) Brooks seat -  For my butt, I swear by brooks.. choose B17 for general purpose.
PLS NOTE, IT TAKES TIME FOR THE SEAT TO FORM TO UR BUM. So don't fit a new brooks seat for the long journey... ur ass will break.. confirm and chop!
For my brompton, I choose the Flyer model with spring... it cuts away the road vibration...

4) Marathon tyres - I don't like changing tyres.. esp on a hot dust road. So I fit my brompton with Swalbe Marathon tyres. Abit draggy but good on broken road and is more puncture proof. I rather be slow and steady. and not need to change tyres :)

Mary and Rini at the City ride 30th Jan 2011
This is Rini, good friend of Mary. She have been thru alot over the years and she is one iron lady! Usually seen on sunday rides with her Dahon Blackie, she would plug her earphones and spin along. I remember on a long ride to Desaru, I was trailing at the rear and rode alongside her... and she complain abit... "so long arhh, want to fall asleep..actually I can sleep while riding(that's when I nearly felt off my bike).. but she never gave up and completed the journey She also have a remarkable sense of balance and I think the only one who can do the "pose" while riding (see photo).  Thru the forum, I understand she would be leaving Singapore and I think the group would miss her lots.  Keep on riding and keep on smiling my friend!

3rd June night ride 2011

lovecycling crew, lighted by our own lights @ MBS
I don't usually do night rides as by the time I reached home and settle my little momo(I pat her to sleep).. I am usually konk out too... But on 3rd June, I rode from Pungol to meet my friends at Kallang MRT, with Poh huat riding with me. On reaching the meet point I was pleasantly surprised at the turnout... 70 riders!

move off!
Apparently another group - West riders also joined us..Wonderful! After a safety/route briefing by Steve and Zack, the whole group started off around 1150am. We rode around Geylang toward Paya lebar. The roads were relatively quiet and the weather really cool and nice.

Esther and Joeel almost reaching Chomp chomp
We rode as a group blinking lights and some with blaring music setup. Great feeling... seeing all bikes of size and types riding together.

Very soon, we reached Chomp chomp for a pitstop. Many went for sugar cane juice, some had dessert...I had Wanton noodle from the end store. Nice! Also met Cat and hubby who was waiting for us there. I could see from their faces.. they wanted to join... and I think they will soon!
AMK towards MaryMount road

Blurry eyed.. beautiful night
Zack on Sweeping duties... thanks man!
From Chomp chomp we headed to Ang Mo kio> Marymount road> Thomson road> Novea Square > Newton circus.  Around Marymount road, xalvinkwax  had a small spill on the road...which he looked alright but decided not to continue. KS and Clarence did the gentlemen thing and waited his dad to pick him.  Thumbs up for the lovecycling crew!  We did a short break at Newton circus and then rolled once more toward Scotts road... it was then the heavens opened. Luckily we we near Orchard road and took shelter at Paragon.
James from Australia. Welcome!

Millon dollar view in the morning
It was already 2.3am then.. so it was relatively quiet... goofing around and just chatting to wait out the rain. Half an hour later the rain stop and we cycled toward Bras Besah > Esplande>MBS. Along the way, we also saw some chaps sitting on the kerbside.. puking (drink too much)...also had 6 young man riding MTB joining us for awhile... We ended the ride at MBS...looking at the beautiful night scape...I think we will be doing this soon again.
Distance covered: 65 km
Thanks Zack, Steve, Bernice, Steven, Clarence and other for making this ride a pleasurable and safe experience!

There's something about Mary

Mary aka Ang Kau Neng  with her Dahon Toughfy
Mary Ang, one of lovecycling Charlie Angels. Always dressed impeccably, with matching shoes and sun glasses.
However, don't let her appearance fool u...Mary is one hell of a good rider. She recently completed NTU 128km ride and does trekking in her free time. She alternates between a  Brompton P apple green 6 speed and a Dahon D7 souped up with the latest Sram and  kinetic pro wheels - very bling and fast!
Carrying load, especially on the brompton is very easy. Mary uses the standard brompton T bag which swallows all her barang barang(stuff) like a bottomless pit. The bag is also mounted very low on the front and does not affect handling.
Very friendly rider, passionate advocate of cycling and also one of the regular feature in our Sunday rides. Come on by someday and say hello to our Queen!

Stylo milo queen, matching acessories right down to the shoelaces!! yeah!

Riding her Brompton in a light drizzle with a fluorescent bag cover
Can't miss who this Brompton belongs to..
I got toolkit, patch kit, and many many more....
Sunblock, moisturiser , wetwipes and my bear bear key fob
